Atlantic Station – Pedestrian Safety Barrier System (Atlanta, GA)

Construction of modular pedestrian safety enclosures in a high-traffic urban environment at Atlantic Station, supporting phased demolition and reconstruction of below-grade stairwell access points.
Project Overview

345 CARES provided design-build support for temporary make-safe barrier systems used to secure active demolition zones within a public-facing retail and pedestrian corridor.

The project required installation, relocation, and maintenance of barrier systems across multiple phases as stairwell demolition progressed throughout the site.

Scope of Work
What We Built & Delivered
  • 01Fabrication and installation of (4) modular, fully enclosed pedestrian barrier systems
  • 028' tall framed structures with plywood enclosure for full visual and physical separation
  • 03Integrated hinged access doors with lockable latches for controlled contractor entry
  • 04Exterior paint finish applied to all public-facing surfaces for uniform appearance
  • 05Ongoing maintenance and repair of barrier systems throughout project duration
  • 06Phased relocation of barriers across (11) stairwell locations as work progressed
  • 07Final removal and relocation to client storage facility at project completion
Execution & Logistics
Active Urban Site. Public Interface. No Stoppage.

This project was driven by site constraints and public interface — barriers had to move fast, look clean, and never interrupt the retail environment around them.

Active retail and pedestrian environment with constant foot traffic
Limited staging and material delivery access throughout
Tight work areas adjacent to storefronts and walkways
Coordination with GC for phased demolition sequencing
Rapid mobilization and relocation cycles — target: 2 days per move
Continuous maintenance to ensure safety, appearance, and structural integrity
Result
Demolition Proceeded. The Public Never Knew.

Delivered a consistent, secure barrier system that allowed demolition and reconstruction activities to proceed safely within a fully active urban environment, without disruption to public access or surrounding businesses.

Safety Record Zero Incidents
Public Impact Zero Disruption
